Senator of the North West Constituency with base in Mezam, who's 2nd vice chair of the Mezam 1A divisional campaign team has underscore multiple reasons why women of the division should come out and vote massively for president Paul Biya at the October 12 polls.

Speaking at the Bamenda I council hall were campaigns of the division was launched Sunday September 28, the associate professor of the faculty of science at the university of Yaounde I, said president Biya has taken a lot of initiatives to empower and protect women not only in the division but in the region and cameroon as a whole.

She said by creating the ministry of women's empowerment and the family, which caters for the welfare of women and children, addressing issues around Gender Discrimination and Gender Base Violence, the maltreatment of women have greatly reduced.

Speaking to the women of Mezam IA

With a centre in the division, cases of GBV in the division has gone down to bare minimum.

Another reason she cited was the proliferation of universities across the country today. Indicated that Biya took power when there was just one state university. Today the country counts more than 10 of such universities, which has trained and empowered many Cameroonians. She gave an example of herself who's now a professor and be able to pass on that knowledge and speak on behalf of the women in many circles. To get more of such women like her in society, she urged the women to cast their vote for Biya come October 12.

"Education is the only instrument that open doors for many in this country. it is only through education that a peasant farmer can nurse the ambition to become a president" she said.

Thanks to president Paul Biya, there's a proliferation of secondary schools in the Mezam 1A area, including technical schools to encourage handwork. Proximity education, in her words, which gives the opportunity for mothers to send their children to school without any excuse.

Social empowerment programs like the Universal Healthcare Coverage, which take provides a health cover for pregnant women till delivery free of charge and weeks of free healthcare services to their children upon delivery is another reason she cited for the women to stand behind Biya.

Senator Prof Nebah Ndosiri Bridget, also spoke about women in leadership. The idea of ensuring gender balance in appointments within the administration of the country alongside local governance, ensuring that a woman is are placed in position of leadership wherever such opportunities arises, is a big plus and feat of the Biya regime. A perfect example for her is the composition of the Mezam 1A divisional campaign team, where women are leading.

The astute professor also cited the gas plant in the division. She said upon tarring of the roads, the prices of domestic gas will automatically drop and will help most families to save up. Most of the women will prefer it to the fireside as it will be relatively cheap to use domestic gas than firewood.

"There will no need to go far to get this precious, basic commodity since it's already closer to you people"

Thanks to decentralization, achieved under the Biya regime and era, the subdivision owns it's council, the Bamenda one council under Mayor Mbigha Felix with women as deputy mayors. She stressed that in the early years , citizens of Bamenda 1 use to travel down to Tubah for civil status documents. Now can easily stroll to their council and get these documents like birth certificates and marriages, free of charge.

With the conflict, many children of women in most municipalities are rebelling against the state. President Biya has remained merciful, created a disarmament and reintegration centre for the children to surrender their weapons so they're not killed. Saving women from the stress of mourning.

With all of the above, she said Biya deserves 200% vote on October 12 from Mezam 1A and not 100%

She urged the women to make the right choice by voting for Biya and no other candidate on polling day
