Bamenda Regional Hospital Emergency Center, Inaugurated

The Newly Constructed Emergency Centre at the Bamenda regional hospital has been Inaugurated.
The Centre which will hence, handle emergencies and critical injuries at the regional hospital was Inaugurated Saturday October 11, by North West governor Adolph Lele Lafrique in the amidst other dignitaries.
A project executed by the North West Regional Assembly with funds from the state, the centre according to the director of the Bamenda regional hospital, Denis Nsame, will go a long way to assist in the handling of critical health cases when they come.
The facility comprises of a ground floor and the first floor, with the ground floor hosting the ground floor the reception, consultation room, pharmacy, imaging unit, the almoner, observation unit, theater, and others.
The first floor on the other hand, host the pediatric observation unit, resuscitation unit, blood bank, laboratory, Obstetrics emergency, call rooms and a conference hall.
Worth over 690 million FCFA, the regional assembly indicated that the realization was part of the key projects under the 2023 budget.
“The emergency center of the Regional Hospital Bamenda has 30 beds" Dr Nsame said.
" The emergency center, is where you uplift critically sick people, and when they are stable, you send them to the ward. We have medical emergencies, Surgical Emergencies, pediatric emergencies and obstetric emergencies,” he added
The hospital director also indicated that the centre will go a long way to address the challenges the hospital was facing in handling emergencies.
“We had a very rudimentary emergency unit that had only six beds, and we know we are in crisis for the past nine years now, where we receive a lot of trauma cases, road traffic accidents, landslides and all that. People who come imagine when somebody comes with a gunshot case, it needs critical care. And so with this building now, I think we are going to do because it's a one stop shop. You have all the services, imaging, laboratory services and reanimation,”
North West Governor, Adolphe Lele Lafrique, saluted the North West Regional Assembly for its commitment in executing projects with direct impact on the population.
He noted that the health of the population is priority, at a time when the region struggles to fully recover from the over 9-year armed conflict.
Also Present at the official Inauguration were elites like former prime Minister Philemon Yang, Minister Mbah Acha Rose and Felix Mbayu.
In an interview after the inauguration ceremony, Philemon Yang noted that the centre is there to serve the population of the region, and Cameroonians at large.
The president of the North West Regional Assembly, Fru Angwafo also answered present and indicated that such donations give loyalty to the head of state.
The event en donation of medical supplies, gifted by President Paul Biya, and financial assistance to 48 distress patients by the North West Regional Assembly.
