Cameroon Association Of English Speaking Journalists ( CAMASEJ), Offers Back-to-School Financial Support to Children of Deceased Members




The Cameroon Association of English Speaking Journalists, Popularly refered to by it's acronym CAMASEJ, has offered financial assistance to children of members of the association who are no more.

The Back-to-School financial support amounting to nearly 2 Million francs CFA, is intended to help these families, pay fees, acquire books and other school materials as they prepare the children for this 2025/26 academic year. 

A total of 22 Children, offsprings of 10 deceased Camasej members who either died of natural cause or man-made, are beneficiaries of the scheme that has been widely saluted by members and non members of the association. 

The 22 children each, benefits a sum of 75,000frs from the back-to-School support fund. 

An internal memo signed by CAMASEJ's national secretary general Amindeh Blaise Atabong, says the initiative of the National Bureau " is part of CAMASEJ's commitment to stand with the families of it's members who have passed on, ensuring that their children continue to access education, despite the challenges".

It also quotes the National President, Viban Jude's take on the initiative, who indicated that "this back-to-School  support reflects our solidarity as a family of Journalists. While our colleagues maybe gone, we remain committed in ensuring that their education is not forgotten".




The financial assistance will be handed to the camasej presidents of the 5 chapters affected, for onward transmission to the concerned beneficiaries.

 Bamenda Chapter

A total of 8 children will benefit the support in this chapter. They are offsprings of 5 journalists who were members of the association. 

They include, Anye Nde Nsoh who was killed in May of 2023 in Bamenda, Peterkings Manyong who died in February of 2021, Fawah Agather who died in March of 2021, Manase Vushigo and Eric Motomo.

 Kumba Chapter

A total of 9 children will benefit the scheme in this chapter. They are children of 2 journalists - Obu Ivo who passed on in August of 2019 and Asong Sylvester in January of 2022.

 Limbe Chapter 

The Limbe Chapter have 2 beneficiaries who are children of the late Elah Geofrey who died in May of 2019.

 Yaounde Chapter

The Yaounde Chapter also have same number of beneficiaries as Limbe, who are offsprings of Anu Paul who died in December of that same 2019.

 Douala Chapter 

Camasej Douala has one beneficiary, who is the child of late journalist Jack Ekwe Kingue.

The support didn't apply for the Buea, Bertoua and Bangem chapters as none was identified.

The Cameroon Association Of English Speaking Journalists (CAMASEJ) in the internal memo said the association is counting on the benevolence of partners and members of goodwill, for the sustainability of the initiative, which it says " provides dignity and hope to children of colleagues who dedicated their lives to the profession"
