Prime Minister Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute announce imminent works on the Bamenda Urban City Roads

The Prime Minister, Head of government Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute has called on the minister of public works Emmanuel Nganou Djomessi to ensure that works begin on the urban roads of Bamenda soonest.

He was speaking as he closes the 7th Session of the steering committee of the Presidential Plan for the Reconstruction and Development of the North West and South West region.

The PM indicated that, as an instrument of peace, it was imperative for the session to also take place in the north west region, one month after that of the south west, to showcase to the population, the gains of the PPRD in the two regions

Speaking on the roads situation he said "Once again, I am announcing the imminent start of the Bamenda city roads"

He indicated that with the support of the world bank and French development agency C2D, the projects will be completed before the year ends to ease mobility and revive the economic activities in the region.

" Coming to Bamenda was imperative to me as I had announce the rehabilitation of the of the Bamenda - Babadjou road and the construction of the ring road. Today the Bamenda-Babadjou road is a reality, facilitating movement of people and goods, and the ring road is in progress" he added 

Reacting, works Minister Emmanuel Nganou and Urban Development minister Kecha Coutes, indicated that they have been working with the regional and local authorities to ensure that works speed up not just on the Bamenda urban bypass but on the communal roads as well.

Minister Emmanuel Nganou said" the work will soon commence in the maximum two or three weeks on the 6.5km urban stretch of the national road 11"

The compensation of those whose properties were destroyed as a result of the 30metres wide urban bypass has been done already.

The PM enjoined regional and local authorities, to relay right down to the suburbs, the realizations of the reconstruction program and it's impact to their immediate communities. 

The plan, he assured the population, was not only meant to build, but ro build back better.
