Cameroon's Telecommunication giant - CAMTEL, has made a bold move in an effort to secure the country's digital future and infrastructures.

This follows a firm partnership the state's corporation entered into with the International War College(IWC), on Monday, July 2, at the head office of CAMTEL in the nation's capital, Yaounde.

Brigadier General Nka ValĂ©re, head of the IWC led his delegation to the meeting hosted by CAMTEL's Technical Adviser No.1 Francis Ottou on behalf of the General Manager Judith Yah Sunday epouse Achidi.

Cybersecurity experts and military trainees from Cameroon, United States, China and other parts of Europe, side-by-side discussed efforts and strategies to fight against hackers, data thieves and ransomware operators.

Speaking at the event, Francis Ottou, made mentioned that though CAMTEL has taken a good number of measures to safeguard the country's digital space, incidences of threats still lingers and the rates of the threats keeps increasing.

"Cybercrime never sleeps. It doesn't need a visa or a rifle. it strikes from anywhere, exploiting legal loopholes to destabilize economies and nations", he said.

By this Partnership, CAMTEL and the War College seeks to deepen cooperation by sharing intelligence, developing rapid-response strategies, and integrating military and civilian expertise to protect Cameroon’s sovereignty in cyberspace.

From deploying advanced security systems and building backup networks to enforcing global compliance standards and ensuring every link in the chain is accountable, CAMTEL is determined to create a resilient digital shield for the nation.

To the War College Delegation, he said “You defend the borders; we defend the data. Together, we keep Cameroon secure,” laying emphasis on the shared responsibility between the telecom giant and the military

Brigadier General Nka Valère praised CAMTEL’s commitment, emphasizing that the fight for national security now extends far beyond physical battlefields.

CAMTEL presents it's vision to partners

Celebrating the War College’s 20th anniversary, he indicated that IWC has already trained close to 900 senior officers from Africa, Europe, China, and the United States, equipping them to tackle the security challenges ahead.

The future of defense isn’t just about soldiers. It’s about building a united culture where military personnel, civilians, and tech experts work hand in hand to protect Africa’s resilience in an age where threats can come from a keyboard rather than a battlefield,” Gen Nkar ValĂ©re said.

Cybercrimes are on the rise in Cameroon with perpetrators devicing and adopting new strategies and ways to commit the crime.

Reason why the country through CAMTEL is passing across a message to those behind it - the nation is ready to fight back, and the digital battlefield will not also be left unattended.

On the menu, was also a special presentation from CAMTEL “Protecting Personal Data in the Face of Cybercrime,”. It gave room for a follow-up question and answer session with War college trainees, highlighting  the importance of collaboration between the two structures.

The partnership is the beginning of a nationwide strategy to safeguard Cameroon’s digital future.
