Bamenda II Council secures a grader, beef up equipment pool
Thanks to the public investment budget for 2024, the Bamenda II council under mayor Chenwi Peter has been able to acquire a brand new grader for the council.
This adds to the other heavy duty road construction and maintenance equipments the council has been able to acquire within the mayor's first mandate of five years in office.
The Bamenda II Council now boast of a front-end loader, a truck, a Hilux and now a grader in it's equipment pool.
During the 2024 budgetary session, mayor Chenwi Peter presented to the councilors, a brand new truck which the council had acquired. The truck which was officially received by the his majesty Fon Angwafo IV of Mankon, came after the purchase of a front-end loader in 2022.
Speaking to the media, mayor Chenwi Peter indicated that the purchase of a grader only comes to fulfill part of the promise he had made when he took over the council, which is to ensure that the Bamenda II council has an equipment pool to facilitate the opening and maintenance of roads within the municipality.
He said plans are underway to purchase an excavator.
While thanking God for the successes recorded under his mandate so far, he said "We were elected to serve and i think as this first mandate comes to a close, we've been able to prove to our municipality that we didn't just come to loiter around".
Mayor Chenwi indicated that despite the security challenges, the council has been resilient and will resist in ensuring that citizen's tax payers money is put to good use in the sub division.
The equipments, he said are available for use to those in and out of his municipality so long as you can fuel and secure it.
The achievements of the Bamenda II council, mayor Chenwi says, align with the head of state's developmental vision for the nation, and believes if handed another mandate, he will be able to do more for the population he serves.
Just back from Canada, he has promised to share with his community the deals he was able to secure from hos working visit in the days ahead.
