"We are Not Here to Seek Permission, We are Here to Close Deals" - Fru Angwafo tells participants at North-West Economic Forum
The President of the North West Regional Assembly, Professor Fru Fobuzshi Angwafo III has told participants at the the first ever North West Economic Forum, that the event isn't for speech making but to secure funding towards industrial growth of the region.
The North-West Economic Forum is taking place in Bamenda under the theme: From Resilience To Renaissance: strategies for the economic transformation of the North West region".
" This forum must do more than speeches. Contracts sign, projects funded and especially lives changing", he said.
He told the audience emphatically, that the blossoming of the region is not the responsibility of foreign donors or lies solely on government shoulders, but a collective efforts of sons and daughters of the North West, in and out of the country.
"It is our responsibility, our legacy and our mark on history", he added.
He insisted that if Northwestners do not invest in themselves, they'll become tenants in the house of their ancestors.
Poetically, Fru Angwafo maintained that the forum be a ground to seize every business opportunity and make good use of it.
That it must not be an avenue for handshakes and policy talks, but be remembered for signatures and business action.
"Let our farmers, engineers, entrepreneurs, traders in the diaspora unite in one truth. The world does not owe us relevance, we must seize it", he emphasized
According to the professor, the dignity of self reliance, prosperity of generational planning and the power of regional ownership are within reach to those from the North West region. It takes just a little convincing from one's self to claim and own it.
