Bamenda I Councilors examine, vet 2024 accounts

By Martial Gnoukapasir Councilors in plenary at administrative account session Mayor Mbigha Njah Felix addressing councilors at session Councilors of the Bamenda I council have examined and adopted the administrative and management accounts of the council. The session validating the accounts took place Thursday April 24 at the council hall. The council budgeted over 1billion for 2024 but was able to realize over 612 million francs, which it used to carry out developmental projects within the municipality. Mayor Mbigha Felix noted that the realisation for 2024 was a mile stone for a council that struggled to realize 200million as local revenue in the previous administration. Notably amongst the good number of projects that the council realized from what was raised, is the opening and widening of numerous roads within the various quarters of Bamendakwe. By Martial Gnoukapasir Chief Ntonefor Kembou Rene facing the press A consignment of over 200 bags of rice, other food and sanitary items like salt and soaps have been handed over to internally displaced persons from some communities of the North West resident in Bamenda, Orphans and the Muslim Community of old town. The philanthropic gesture was an initiative of the Director of Road Transport, Dr Mbamone and Chief Ntonefor Kembou Rene of Soh Bafut, who's doubles as the fourth deputy mayor of the Bafut Council. Handing over the items at a symbolic event that took place Thursday March 20th at the old town neighborhood, one of the donors Chief Ntonefor Rene said the humanitarian gesture, is an extension of what they have been doing to many communities for the past 10 years.
